Chipeño is the smoky, spicy salsa with its own character. It has its origins in the north of Mexico. The hand-picked jalapeños are harvested as ripe as possible and then smoked over a wood fire, as the Aztecs did. This process gives the jalapeños their smoky and fiery taste and makes them the so-called chipotles. Chipeño is a play on the words chipotle and jalapeño.
Chipeño goes well with:
