The traditional Habermus breakfast made from spelt flakes, apple pieces and Hildegard-typical spices is a popular part of Hildegard cuisine and is frequently recommended in the teachings of Hildegard von Bingen.
Directions: Mix one cup of spelt porridge with 2-3 cups of water and bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Add honey and lemon juice if desired, then let it steep. Cooking time is approximately 5-10 minutes, depending on the desired consistency.
